Fighting Conservatism for centuries

Liberalism has been fighting the conservatism for the past 2 centuries at least. The civilization or the community which is liberated had undergone a heavy war against the conservatism. It is not easy to fight the age-old feudal structure, belief, inferior mentality of the people and very importantly those who suppressed the weak for their benefit. Conservatism  is a philosophy promoting traditional social institutions in the context of culture and civilization ie., basically the structure of the society in any civilization. Despite all discrimination that we have in society the conservatives support the feudal structure. The  Liberalism  is a philosophy based on liberty, consent of the government and equality before the law. Here the society comes out of the traditional structure that discriminates people based on the community they belong to. The law and opportunities are common for everyone. Getting liberated doesn't mean that we lose all our culture, tradition and our identity

Irrational Lawmaking - A Threat to the nature of the State

The citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), 2019 that was passed by the Parliament has created so many controversies and even unrest in some parts of the country. I thought of discussing the Act. The CAA, 2019 is an amendment to the Citizenship Act, 1955 that regulated who can acquire Indian citizenship and on what grounds. It has been a long time after the citizenship act, 1955 was enacted and the country has gone into a lot of things since 1960 that demanded a new law to regulate citizenship. We had illegal migration due to wars, religious and linguistic persecution in our neighbour countries and even people migrated to India illegally for better living conditions. Provisions of the Act The act sought to make the illegal migrants belonging to 6 minority communities ( Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Christians and Parsis ) from 3 countries ( Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan ) those who faced religious persecution in their respective countries eligible for citizenship and made some chang

How to balance the equation?

Among all the news covered about the celebrations of the people for the murders done by the cops in Telangana, I wonder why it has been done? And what else could be done? Whatever be the punishment it should be given by the legal system ! If a law is created then it is equal for all invariably! People should trust the rule of law that it will serve justice to them. But this act of encountering the accused before they were proved guilty shows that the legal system is incapable of serving justice. Is this act balanced? We see people welcoming the move but I question is the move equal to all offenders? Here the accused were very backwards and that is why the police killed them easily, could they do it everywhere? If yes why didn't they do it in Pollachi gang rape issue and Unnao rape and murder issue? We hear the police neglecting an attempt rape case from a victim saying "come after you were raped". Now the problem is the enforcement of the law! In the Disha case, the polic

Reviving Economy

GDP  growth in the second quarter of the financial year 2019-20 hit 25 quarter low. Our finance minister addresses the Rajya Sabha that the Indian economy is not in a recession but slowing down. Anywhere the authority must take responsibility for a failure and work on it to revive the cycle but here the govt declines! Govt's move to revive economy: NDA led govt is attracted more towards capitalism. The policies and reforms made by the govt in the economy are driving the economy towards the organized structure - right from demonetization, digital India and GST to reduction of corporate taxes. These were done to grow the Indian economy a 5 Trillion dollar economy by 2024. But unfortunately, we had to face the global recession and so the country's economy is also slowing down. Now Govt needs to know what should they do to revive the economy first. And then how to make use of this recession to build our nation from an economic point of view. But the greatest responsibility of the g
